Options for New and Experienced Interpreters

The Widener University Law Center, Legal Education Institute, has developed a program to assist individuals in becoming certified court interpreters. Workshops will specialize in various spoken languages, as well as American Sign Language (ASL) and are developed in response to the needs of the court systems for knowledgeable court interpreters. The programs include hands-on practice of the various interpretation skills through work using the language lab equipment.

The necessary skills for a Certified Court Interpreter include the proper use and knowledge of the different modes of interpreting, namely:
  • Simultaneous Interpreting
  • Sight Translation
  • Consecutive Interpreting
Future workshops will be announced.
