New associate dean for academic affairs Stephen E. Friedman

Widener University School of Law has a new associate dean for academic affairs in Delaware.

Professor Stephen Friedman was appointed to the administrative position beginning July 1. He will serve under Interim Co-Dean Erin Daly, who oversees Widener Law Delaware.

Friedman joined the Widener Law faculty in 1998. He teaches contracts, sales and leases, arbitration, and secured transactions. Friedman has written extensively on the Federal Arbitration Act. He worked as an associate at Dechert, Price & Rhoads in Philadelphia before coming to the law school.

As associate dean for academic affairs, Friedman will work with Daly and the faculty to ensure the school’s program of legal education remains strong and innovative, and that it continues to both engage students and meet the evolving needs of employers. He will also assist Daly in the day-to-day operation of the school.

Friedman holds a law degree, awarded cum laude, from Harvard Law School and a bachelor of arts degree, awarded summa cum laude, from Yale University. He co-chairs the American Bar Association Business Law Section’s Annual Survey Subcommittee and co-edits the section’s annual uniform commercial code survey.
