Saturday, November 10th. The group will be departing the
Delaware campus at 9:00 a.m. Participating students are required to sign a waiver which has already been distributed to those who have signed up.
Participants are advised that the area will dirty, muddy, and wet, and are encouraged to wear warm clothes and wear appropriate shoes. Participants are also strongly advised to come equipped with work gloves.
For those students driving themselves, the group will be meeting at
5215 Wellington Ave, Ventnor, NJ.

UPDATE 3Hurricane relief efforts on both campuses are ongoing throughout the end of the week.
In Harrisburg, the SBA table is set up in the pit for the community to donate any non-perishable food items, blankets, toiletries, etc. that can be donated to the Red Cross for Hurricane Sandy victims. Any and all contributions are appreciated!
In Delaware, the
Latin American Law Students Association (LALSA) has a Hurricane Sandy Relief Jar set up to accept donations at their table on Main Street. Every penny counts!
UPDATE 2
The Delaware SBA's trip to Brigantine Beach New Jersey to assist with clean up is scheduled for
Saturday, November 10, 2012. At least forty people need to be signed up in order for a bus transportation to be provided. Volunteers will depart the Delaware campus at
9:00 a.m. and return around
9:00 p.m. Interested students can sign up on Facebook or via a sign-up heet that will be made available on Main Street.
UPDATE 1Beginning Monday, November 5th, the Harrisburg campus
Student Bar Association will have a table in the Pit to accept donations of non-perishable food items, blankets, toiletries, or other items that can be donated to the Red Cross for Hurricane Sandy victims. Contact SBA President Kristin Potter with any questions.
Original Story appears below.In the wake of the devastation left by Hurricane Sandy, the Delaware campus
Student Bar Association is pursuing several avenues to assist with relief efforts.
Beginning
Thursday, November 1st and running through
November 9th, The SBA’s Food Drive will be collecting a variety of food items (listed below) for New Jersey communities that suffered significant damage from the Hurricane. Collections made between
November 10th and
November 19th will go to the
Food Bank of Delaware for
Thanksgiving meals as previously planned.
Additionally, the SBA is organizing a volunteer trip to New Jersey to assist with clean up that is planned for
Saturday, November 10th. For more details on the trip, please
contact a representative from the SBA.
Finally, the SBA will set up a
table for clothing donations on Main Street. The entire Widener Law community is encouraged to see if they can spare any pieces of clothing from their closets to donate for those in need. There will also be a sign-up sheet for the volunteer trip into New Jersey along with a collection jar for anyone willing to help fund a bus or provide gas money for the trip. A sign-up sheet will be posted to TWEN for people to volunteer to man the table – any and all students organizations may sit at the table to oversee collections.
