Harrisburg Campus Holds Reception in Honor of the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s First Diversity Officer

On Wednesday, October 5th, Widener Law’s Harrisburg campus hosted a reception for Janis Leftridge, the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s first Diversity Officer, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Faculty, alumni, atudents, Widener Law’s Diversity Advisory Board, and the Board of Overseers were all in attendance.

Dean Linda L. Ammons opened the event by introducing Ms. Leftridge. Francis O'Rourke, Deputy Executive Director of the Pennyslvania Bar Association, also spoke about Leftridge and why she was elected the first Diversity Officer.

Leftridge is a Harrisburg resident and will be responsible for overseeing and facilitating the PBA’s efforts to improve diversity within the PBA and Pennsylvania’s legal community in general.

Leftridge said, “Regardless of what job I had, whether it was written in the job description or not, my goal has been to have women and minorities be given the opportunity to do things they haven’t been able to do in the past."
