Professor N. Jeremi Duru to Discuss Diversity in NFL Coaching and the Rooney Rule

2011NFLWJLERPromoOn Thursday, April 7th at 5:30 p.m. in the Ruby R. Vale Moot Courtroom on the Delaware campus, the Widener Journal of Law, Economics and Race proudly presents Legal and Diversity Issues in Coaching Professional Sports. The event will also be broadcast to the Harrisburg campus.

Temple University Beasley School of Law Professor N. Jeremi Duru, the author of Advancing the Ball: Race, Reformation, and the Quest for Equal Coaching Opportunity in the NFL, will discuss legal and diversity issues in coaching professional sports. His talk will focus in particular on diversity in coaching in the NFL, and the league’s Rooney Rule. The Rooney Rule, established in 2003, requires NFL member teams to interview at least one minority candidate when conducting searches for either head coach or senior football operations positions.
