Verne Smith and Jonathan Peri '99.

The Delaware County Alumni Chapter, chaired by Jonathan Peri ’99, hosted a luncheon and CLE program on Monday, March 28th at D’Ignazio’s Townehouse Restaurant in Media, PA. The CLE portion of the program titled “Animal Law: The Basics and Beyond” was presented by Verne R. Smith, Esq. Mr. Smith is the Assistant Dean for Business and Administration at Widener University School of Law. He received his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and his J.D. from Dickinson School of Law. Mr. Smith also teaches Animal Law at Widener and is the faculty advisor for Widener’s Student Animal Legal Defense Fund. Currently the Vice Chair of the Animal Law Committee of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, he will be appointed Chair of the Committee in May 2011. A frequent speaker and writer about animal law and related issues, Mr. Smith also serves on the Executive Board of the Animal Law Section of the Association of American Law Schools.
