On Friday, February 19th and Saturday, February 20th, the team of Valerie Davis, Hillary Prutzman, Katelyn Cutinello, Kathryn Schweitzer, and Kristy Kirk competed in the Mid-Atlantic Super Regional Round of the Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition.
Now in its 51st year, the Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition is an international competition in which teams from 79 countries participated. Each country has its own national competition and the respective national championship teams compete against each other in Washington, D.C. for the world championship.
In the preliminary rounds, the Widener Harrisburg team argued against teams from Johns Hopkins University, the University of West Virginia, Seton Hall, and Duquesne. The team won all four matches and advanced to the quarterfinal round ranked 3rd out of 28 teams. In the quarterfinal round, the team lost against a team from Georgetown that went on to win second place in the Competition. The judges remarked that they were very impressed by the quality of the Harrisburg team’s argument.
Professor
Katherine Mason Jones
served as the team’s coach. The entire Widener Law community congratulates Valerie, Hillary, Katelyn, Kathryn, Kristy, and Professor Jones on a job well done!
