On Monday, March 8, 2010, Widener Law Dean Linda L. Ammons
gave the keynote address at the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Luncheon, which was held at the DuPont Country Club in Wilmington.
Dean Ammons addressed an audience of local business leaders and students. She described how her career path had led her to her current position, comparing her experiences to the Beatles song “The Long and Winding Road” and Frank Sinatra’s “That’s Life.” She cited her mother’s influence, noting the value that she placed on education. While her mother’s influence led Dean Ammons to become a passionate advocate for the value of higher education, she noted her fears for the country’s future, saying, “We spend money on entertainment and sports, but we are stingy on education.”
Sponsored in 2010 by Wilmington University, Delmarva Power, and the Wilmington News Journal, the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Series provides an opportunity for the business community to learn from important leaders across a variety of fields.
