Vale professor of corporate and business law and the director of Widener’s Institute of Delaware Corporate and Business Law, has been elected by the Section of Business Law of the American Bar Association to serve on the section’s 20-member governing council.

Approximately 50,000 business lawyers and law students throughout the United States, Canada and other countries are members of the Section of Business Law.

“Membership on the governing council is a distinct honor as well as a wonderful opportunity to contribute to the work of the Section of Business Law, and to advance the section’s efforts to improve our system of business and corporate law,” Hamermesh said. “One of my goals is to encourage more of our students at Widener to participate in the work of the Section of Business Law.”

Hamermesh continues to serve on the editorial board of The Business Lawyer, the section’s flagship publication, along with Widener Law Professor Juliet Moringiello, who teaches on the school’s Harrisburg, Pa. campus. Moringiello previously served on the governing council of the Section of Business Law and Hamermesh’s appointment to the council reflects the strength and depth of Widener’s continuing contribution to the work of the ABA’s Section of Business Law.
