Widener Law Professor Thomas J. Reed joined a roundtable discussion in Washington on Wednesday, May 23 at the invitation of Rep. Bob Filner, D-California, chairman of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Veterans' Affairs.

The discussion was between the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, claims stakeholders and members of the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs. Filner asked Reed to speak during a discussion of ideas to reduce the claims backlog and improve the current process for veterans.

Reed directs the Veterans Law Clinic on the Widener Law campus in Delaware, where students represent disabled veterans and/or their dependents with benefits claims before the Department of Veterans Affairs and federal courts that handle veteran matters.

The Washington meeting was held in the Cannon House Office Building.
