A train station is not a venue in which one might expect to attend an alumni event. However, if it is the historic Lackawanna Station in Scranton, it is not an ordinary train station. Converted from rail stop to sophisticated hotel, the old train station served as a beautiful location for Widener Law's recent Scranton/Wilkes-Barre alumni event.
Young students and young careers were nurtured on the evening of June 4, 2007, during the student-alumni reception held at Scranton's remarkable Radisson Lackawanna Station Hotel. Current and incoming students gathered from throughout the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area for the intimate social, an opportunity which provided them with the chance to network with Widener Law alumni who live and work close to their hometowns. The twenty-five guests who represented both the Harrisburg and Wilmington campuses posed questions and shared conversations between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m over drinks and hors d'oeuvres at the grand hotel.
As the evening progressed, Dean Ammons spoke candidly with each
guest and shared gifts with her students as she warmly welcomed them to the Widener Law community and introduced them to their future colleagues. Alumni taking home door prizes from the student-alumni reception were William Boak '06, Matt Domines '01, Melissa Foley '99, Christopher Osborne '97, Joan Samuel '01, and Adelle Zavada '05.
A similar event will be held again in April.
